When you see 3×4 journaling cards I’m sure most of you think of using them in your Project Life albums. They are perfect for scrapbooking, but they also make great gift tags too. I have 18 new 3×4 journaling cards in the Silhouette store right now and wanted to show you some simple ways to use and embellish them.
I love using glitter and a touch of sparkle to add interest to my projects. A little goes a long way. I used gold ribbon to tie the “HUGS + KISSES” tag onto the white sack and it made the whole package pop.
Using some gold glitter wrapping paper I had on hand, I cut out the word “love” and glued it to the red confetti 3×4 journaling card. I then added a heart made of tissue paper and clipped it on the bag with a gold clothespin.
3×4 Journaling Card Sets: Heart | Hugs + Kisses | Red Confetti
I used gold Stickles to glitter the tiny clothespin. It gives great coverage and I don’t have to fight the mess that comes with using glue and sprinkling glitter on top. While the Stickels dried, I sewed on some gold embroidery thread along the bottom of the card. Fill a glassine bag with candy and gold confetti, attach the 3×4 card using the clothespin, and you’re done!
3×4 Journaling Card Set: Heart
Using red and gold Stickles, I added a little sparkle to the hearts on these last three cards. Little effort for a big impact!
3×4 Journaling Card Sets: I {Heart} You | Love Letters
I used the same gold embroidery thread as before and stitched it to the card along the center of the heart. I love using glitter and thread to embellish the cards. They add great interest and dimension to your cards, and still lay flat in your scrapbooks.
3×4 Journaling Card Set: Love
First up are the heart cross stitch and pop-up cards. I love the added texture you get by actually stitching on the paper card. The card comes pre-cut with all the little holes, you just have to stitch in them giving you the perfect shaped heart.
The pop-up heart card comes with 3 pieces. The solid back (red), heart pop-ups (white) and half a heart (gold.) Simply fold the white hearts back making them pop-up. Glue the half heart shape (gold) to any heart pop-up you want to emphasize. Glue a small piece of coordinating paper behind the cut-out completing the heart shape. Finally, glue on the solid back piece (red) making the card pop with color.

Hi Amy,
Absolutely love these designs!!!
Please kindly advise which is the best home printer to use for thick card stock.
Thank you! I’m so glad you are enjoying the designs. As far as printers go, there is a such a wide range of price and quality for home printers. I have an inexpensive Canon Pixma MP495 that I bought at Walmart for around $60. The key is to read your manual and play around with your printer. For projects I show on my blog, I print at the highest quality it allows and I use a matte photo paper. It feels like card stock, but holds the ink better for a richer color. Using your printer on the highest quality does use more ink, but the results in printing are definitely noticeable. I hope that helps. -Amy
