We celebrated Thanksgiving with my side of the family last week and my nieces and nephews loved this Turkey Bingo game. I even heard my little three year old niece yell this is the funnest game! All the kids playing were under seven years old and could play on their own. That’s a big deal to them when they don’t have to be on a “team” with an adult.
The game is simply played by matching the color of the feather called, to the feather color on the card. There are only seven feathers per card so it isn’t overwhelming. The kids also don’t have to watch to see if they have a row of five squares covered like it regular Bingo. They only need to watch that they cover all the turkey feathers. It was so cute to hear my two year old nephew yell “Gobble! Gobble!” when he would get all his feathers on the turkey. The game moves quickly so every one gets a chance to win.
This file comes with 6 different print and cut bingo cards, and feathers to be cut out of coordinating cardstock colors. You can make more bingo cards by ungrouping the feathers from the turkey and making new color patterns of feathers.
Here’s a little trick my mom taught me using her Silhouette. She laminated some butcher paper, the kind that comes on a roll, and cut them down to 12×12 sheets. She then cut the feathers out of the laminated paper using her Silhouette. The butcher paper and lamination were thin so the Silhouette had no trouble cutting through it. All the feathers were protected from sticky little fingers and can be used over the years. She’s a genius! We also laminated the cards to make them more durable as well.
I hope your family has as much fun playing this game as ours did. Happy Thanksgiving!
