I have a fun tutorial for you today using Silhouette Chipboard that is part of their current promotion. Nothing says party quite like a piñata. Whether it’s a big piñata for all the guests to break together, or small piñatas for party favors. Your guests will love to discover the surprises hiding in these little fringe treasures.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Cut 3D Pentagon out of Chipboard.
  2. Bend all scored lines and assemble box by glueing tabs to neighboring sides.
  3. If you choose to hang your piñata, be sure to insert your string before glueing the last side. You may need to tape the last side of your box to help the tabs hold, since you won’t be able to apply the same pressure from inside and out like previous sides. No worries, your fringe will cover the tape. *Don’t forget to fill it with yummy treats.*
  4. Cut your tissue paper into long strips and fold in half, so your fringe has two layers. Cut slits in the tissue paper stopping just before the top. These fringe scissors make the job faster, but straight scissors will work well too.
  5. Once your fringe is cut, glue it around your 3D pentagon. Continue adding your fringe in any pattern you choose.
  6. Hang at a party or place in a bowl for party favors. Enjoy!

I have a whole party using tissue paper fringe and Silhouette Chipboard that I’ll be showing over the next week. Grab your chipboard now at this awesome price. If you’ve been thinking about buying a Silhouette machine, the time to do it is during this promotion. You can’t beat this price!

Remember, as with all Silhouette promotions, you must use the link provided through by blog and promotional code ROBISON to receive the discount pricing.

    1. I cut this piñata the full size of a 12×12 paper and it measures approximately 3″ around when folded. Perfect for individual piñatas. If you wanted to make a large one for a party, you can always enlarge it to fit one or two sides on a 12×12 paper. Cut enough sides to complete the shape, then glue/tape them together using your smaller one for a sample. I hope that helps. I have a graduation party I’ll be showing next week, where I made a large piñata gluing separate pieces together to create it. Check back for that.

      1. Awesome! I want a larger one! Let me know if you post a video tutorial for the larger one. Thank you!!

        1. I also have a free .svg download of basic shapes you can use if you have the Silhouette Designer Edition. It includes the pentagon shape I used for the piñata. I’ll post a tutorial of the large piñata next week. It’s very similar to the small one.

          1. I have SSDE and have bought several of your designs! I’ll download the basic designs tonight. Thanks and I look forward to the tutorial!!
