I have wanted to create a lemonade stand for years. I just needed to wait for my kids to get a little older so I could use them for an excuse to make one. Ha! It looks a little ridiculous to have an adult selling lemonade at a stand with her one-year-old twins next to it. My kids love when we do out Hot Cocoa for a Cause every year so I knew they would be on board for this.
When Silhouette approached me with an opportunity to create a project with their new vinyl from Oracal, I immediately thought of making the lemonade stand. I pictured a large vinyl lemonade logo on the front of the stand and then using vinyl to brand any and everything I could. My mind kind of goes crazy with so many ideas and I have to sort through and figure what can actually be done. With the Silhouette I have been able to create some things I never would have imagined I could years ago. The sky really is the limit.
Lemonade Logo
The logo on the front of the lemonade stand is about 2′ x 3′. Since the Silhouette Cameo 3 can only cut up to 12″ wide, I had to create it in two pieces and then match them up when I applied it to the wood. I was so nervous to try this, but it was actually pretty easy. Applying the vinyl did take a little time and patience, but it wasn’t difficult at all. I used this YouTube tutorial for setting up my cut file to cut in two sections, also known as tiling.
It looks so seamless. You would never guess this lemon was two pieces of vinyl. Can you see where the two pieces of meet? The seam runs just above that gap in the wood in the middle of the logo. I honestly wasn’t sure it would turn out this well and I’m so so happy with it.
Every single customer that came commented on the cups. The vinyl logo made it all look official, but those little paper leaves on the straw are my favorite part. They add that finishing touch that makes it look more homemade with love.
My original idea for a uniform was to brand aprons with heat transfer vinyl, but it’s tough finding kid aprons that are bigger than toddler size. Instead I decided to dress them up in their Sunday best with these adorable matching ties (that have inspirational messages on the back. Love that!) and a paper hat with a vinyl logo on either side. Doesn’t Rem look like a little bartender in this photo? Not the look I was going for with a two-year-old, but it cracks me up.
Obviously all of this isn’t practical for a children’s lemonade stand if you actually wanted to make money, but my purpose here is to show you all the ways you can customize your own stand and give you a lot of options.
How cute would this be at a bridal or baby shower for the drink or dessert bar? You could customize it with shower colors and theme. There are so many different ways you customize a lemonade stand to fit all of your occasions. How would you use any of these ideas at your next party or lemonade stand?
I really don’t like snow, but seeing this lemonade stand, I kinda wish I lived next door to you or at least on the same block. You have such fun! Thanks for sharing all your amazing ideas – I love that you’re my imaginary internet bestie. : )
You are so nice. Thank you, but you might be a little overwhelmed by all of this if you lived next door. haha!
Actually, our house is surrounded by a multigenerational family on the south with teenaged boy who love to play basketball beside our bedroom wall nightly and a few teenaged girls who get honked at every time a boy drives down the block, to the north is another family with so many kids we still don’t know how many they have (and they’ve lived there for two years) plus three huge dogs – they hold sports nights on the weekends with all their friends in the garage and also in the back yard with music and a fire pit, across the street to the east are three homes filled with high schoolers and more large dogs, and we share the back fence with a family of 4 grade school kids – and we love the screams and laughter in the summer and all the balls in our yard, the family kitty corner to us has a Mariachi band that comes every saturday night 5-10 during the summer! Whoot! free happy music! So, we’re kind of used to the mayhem and we kind of like it! That said, no one has a lemonade stand. : (
Any. You are so very amazing!!
