St. Patrick’s Day Party for Kids

I hosted the easiest St. Patrick’s Day party last week for my kids and their friends. I’m excited to share it with you today. It was very little prep work and looked great. You can’t go wrong with that. I love designing and making the decorations for my parties, but with my fourth baby arriving in a month, I just didn’t have the energy for it this time. I kept the party very simple and the kids had a great time.

For the party favors, I filled little black pots with gold chocolates, yellow water beads, green sucker sticks, crayons and rainbow candy. I topped them with a little personalized shamrock, and these adorable party favors doubled as place setting cards. (I shared all the info about them in this previous post.) The tables were covered with white butcher paper. I have mentioned before how much I love using it for parties. It’s cheap, makes clean up a breeze,  looks nicer than those plastic table clothes with all the creases, and you can use it as one of the party activities.

While the kids waited for everyone to arrive and to eat a lunch of delicious green and rainbow colored foods, they colored on the table with their new rainbow crayons. It’s always good to have an activity for kids to do while they are waiting for the others to arrive, so you don’t lose complete control before the party even starts.
St. Patrick's Day party table cotton ball lights

I am obsessed with cotton ball lights. My brother brought some home for my kids a few years ago when he visited Thailand and I am so mad at myself for not using them sooner. I have theirs hanging in the playroom and they are adorable. I bought some green cotton ball lights for this party with the intent on hanging them, but I love the way they look on the table. The pot is raised on little blocks which was perfect for hiding the plug from the lights underneath.

I found these rainbow colored bubbles at Walmart and stuck them in my new favorite pot from Ikea. I used rice and beans in the bottom of the pot to help the bubbles stand up. Then I topped it with green crinkled paper. I love the simplicity of this centerpiece and it also functions as an activity for later in the party.

You can’t forget to add some gold chocolate coins to the mix. They’re a must for every St. Patrick’s Day party, even if they really aren’t all that yummy. You know I’m right. Haha! These ideas can also be used as little surprises and treats from a leprechaun visiting your house. Get creative and have fun!
