As promised, today I’m showing another way to use Silhouette Premium Vinyl. I found these cute plastic bowls and plates at Ikea. They come in a pack of four and cost about $1.50. I couldn’t pass them up. This project was so easy and was finished in minutes. Cut any shape out of vinyl and place on the containers like you would a sticker. That’s it! You’re done! I’ve decided to share a free .svg download of basic shapes to get you started. Note: You need to have the designer edition of the Silhouette software to import the cut file.
I think these little bowls will look great on my desk holding odds and ends. They would also work well for holding wrapped candy and small treats at a party.
These letters are the negative space of another project I’ll be featuring. Since they weren’t all cut in a row, it didn’t make sense to use transfer paper to put them on the plate. I taped down some placement markers made of cardstock for guides. Start in the middle of the word and work your way out to make centering your phrase easier. If you make a mistake, you can carefully peel it off and try again.
I wrapped up some homemade cookies on this plate for a friend’s birthday. What a fun surprise to see birthday wishes when all the cookies have disappeared. Speaking of disappearing cookies, I caught my two little cookie monsters climbing up on the oven drawer to sneak themselves a treat. Nothing is out of reach at this house no matter how hard I try.
Tomorrow’s vinyl project uses glitter and the other part of the happy birthday letters used in the plate above. Here’s another reminder of the great Silhouette promotion going on right now.
