Today’s tutorial is for patriotic bunting. This is a classic decoration for Independence Day usually made from fabric, and I’m going to show you how to make it out of paper.

Independence Day is just around the corner. I still can’t believe July is almost here. This summer is flying by. I have a few patriotic projects for you this week that you can make to decorate your home or holiday barbecue. As always, these projects are fast and easy to complete leaving you plenty of time for your other holiday preparations.

Supplies Needed:

How to Make Patriotic Bunting:

  1. Cut all your pieces using the Silhouette machine. Accordion fold each piece along the scored lines. Fold the large base piece in half creating a semi-circle.
  2. Flip the semi-circle base piece over to the back and tape the two ends together that meet in the center.
  3. Lay the two white pieces on top aligning them will the folds of the red base. You may have to place them further from the center and then slide them inward as shown in step 5. The pieces will fit tight, so adhesive isn’t necessary for each layer but you can use it if you would like.
  4. Lay the blue piece on top aligning the folds with the two layers below.
  5. Place your last accordion strip on and pull all layers as close to the center as you can.
  6. Loop a string between the centerfold of the red base and the long flat edge and tie tight. Tape all the layers together along the top edge
  7. Adhere the center circle on top. String together and hang.
