Silhouette has a promotion on their fabric interfacing that starts today. (Yep, I have a promotion code for you at the end of this post.) It was the inspiration for making this classic fish pond game. I had my doubts about how well the machine really could cut fabric and the quality of the interfacing. It just seemed too good to be true. Well I tried it all out, and I am so impressed with how well it cut. Seriously. I kept showing each fish to my husband after I cut them out. I just couldn’t believe it.

I love the fish pond game. It’s perfect for all ages and is always a hit at parties. My sister made one for her daughter’s Penguin Party using paper fish. I love having this one made entirely out of fabric to last through the years.

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Following the instructions on the Fabric Interfacing, iron it to your fabric. Use sewable interfacing if it is something you will be washing or will receive a lot of wear. You will need to sew around the edges of each piece for added durability. Use clean cut on projects that won’t get as much wear or that won’t be ironed on to another surface. This one is thicker and more durable, and doesn’t require additional stitching around the edges.
  2. After ironing the interfacing to the fabric, remove the paper backing and place your piece fabric side up on your cutting mat.
  3. Select “Fabric Cotton Print – With Silhouette Interfacing” in the cut settings menu. Load your fabric blade and cut your shape. Using a sharp blade is key with the Silhouette, especially when working with fabric.
  4. Remove your die cut from the mat and iron it to the shower curtain.
  5. If you used sewable interfacing, sew around the edges of each fish.

I cut small fish out of the fabric scraps to embellish little bags to hold the prizes. The fishing pole was made by painting a wood dowel and tying a clothes pin to it with twine. Your guests will love to fish for their own prizes at your next party.

I know you’re all anxious to try cutting fabric with your Silhouette.
